The money will help increase access to such initiatives, said acting Education Secretary Carolyn Dumaresq.

It will also support existing training and collaboration sessions for nearly 3,000 teachers in pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade, she said Thursday.

Being a male teacher who was leveled from 6th down to 1st this year, I like the sound of this. I just hope they don't bring in "educators and practitioners" like Charlotte Danielson (and all those other "experts). I am blessed to work with a team of ladies who have been a valuable asset to me. These are the type of educators they need to be getting to share best practices.

I read about that in the Inky this morning. They should use that money to enhance our School District run pre-K to Grade 3 programs. They should lower class size to 22 in those grades, and provide reading specialists to provide very small group instruction for all students who need it.

As Kelly alluded to above -- the improvement in our schools can only come from within.

Those teachers need support, and the collaborative decision-making practices, to make their schools and their children successful.

Dr. William Hite @SDPHite
The Center of Teaching Excellence at Temple has announced that 45 teachers from SDP have achieved National Board Teacher Certification.

Unfortunately, none of these teachers will receive any compensation because of the action taken by Dr. Hite and the SRC this past summer.

National board teachers did receive their bonuses this past August after the SRC Spring resolutions. If anything the SDP know that national board teachers would leave in a heartbeat of their bonuses were not honored.
