White & Williams attorney and partner Tom Fiddler reads with Myasia Robinson, a 5th grader at Laura W. Waring School, 1801 Green St. In October, the law firm presented the K-8 school, which does not have a library, with a $10,000 check to support in-class libraries. The presentation also kicked off a yearlong relationship between the school and the firm to help improve literacy skills and PSSA reading scores. On the English PSSAs, only 22 percent of the students scored proficient or advanced. School officials said that without easy access to books, students are not able to fully learn critical reading and language skills. As part of the partnership, attorneys will host reading days with students throughout the school year.
