Renaissance community meetings postponed

by Dale Mezzacappa on Feb 08 2010

Due to the bad weather, some, and perhaps all, of the community meetings scheduled for this week at Renaissance Eligible schools will be postponed.

UPDATE: All community meetings have been cancelled. The meetings have been rescheduled for next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Harrity and Ethel Allen were scheduled for their community meetings today. Mann and Stetson's meetings were set for Tuesday, when a new snowstorm is forecast. Those four meetings are definitely off until next week.

District spokesman Fernando Gallard said it is possible that meetings scheduled for Wednesday at University City High and Thursday at West Philadelphia High will be postponed as well. Target dates for all the meetings are next week in this compressed timeline, in which schools are expected to open under new management in September. Some of the school reviews, which were scheduled to start Feb. 8 and run through March 1, are also being postponed.

Staff meetings at Mann and Harrity that were scheduled for Feb. 9 are still on, since school will be open, Gallard said. Contrary to the District's schedule, which say they occur between 3:30 and 4 p.m., these meetings typically last an hour. Several were already held last week.
