Meetings, actions in response to plan and budget this week

This week, several events are planned in response to the District's transformation plan and the state budget situation that has contributed to a $218 million District deficit for next year.
According to the Education Policy and Leadership Center, this week has been named "Education Funding Advocacy Week," and the following events throughout the state are scheduled:

Tuesday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m., the PA Interfaith Impact Network is leading a coalition of faith-based, community, and labor organizations in a rally in Harrisburg.

Tuesday, May 22 at 2:30 p.m., the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators and Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials will release a survey on the impact of funding cuts.

Tuesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m. ACTION United is convening a community meeting to help develop an alternate proposal to the District's transformation blueprint.

Wednesday, May 23, all day, Education Voters PA is organizing a statewide call to action.

Wednesday, May 23 at noon, SEIU 32 BJ will march from the Municipal Services Building at 15th Street and JFK Boulevard to protest layoff notices sent to union members.

Thursday, May 24 at 6 p.m., the School District will hold the final community budget session for input on the transformation plan at Girls High.

So we're 218 million in the red?? I thought it was 518 million?? Maybe even a billion. Sorry, but there's nobody left to lie to. Better luck next time. Unless the people stop this farcical fraud, Public Ed. will be done in Philly--Our Democracy won't be far behind.
