This was missed yesterday - "The Important Story Every Philadelphian Should Read" on Nowak's control over the School District of Philadelphia - http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/attytood/The-important-story-that-eve... The City Paper has led the way in looking at the unelected cabal that is controlling the SDP.

Plain and simple: If you are a member of 32BJ SEIU Union 1201 and your AGAINST your Layoffs, then when the Ratification Vote is made VOTE YES and we will NOT be Laid Off! There are other factors that will be announce during the voting.

But the general understanding is a YES VOTE is a vote against a Layoff.

I'm voting YES for this agreement between the SRC and my Union. I commend the efforts made by my Union President George Ricchezza!

Now it's up to the rest of our Union members to swallow a bitter pill and just accept that this pill is a Thanks Giving Feast as oppose to being unemployed in a unstable job market. Not know when your benefits are going to end along with how many months you have left of Unemployment Compensation Checks!

I've been interviewing for jobs, but nothing sparks my interest and I still have others to answer.

If you must think...think about working and vote YES

Dr. Camika Royal reminds us once again that we should not stereotype. That the statement below can come from within the deformers camp is reason for hope.

While the leadership of Teach for America is completely in the deformers camp, working with such organizations as the Broad Foundation, at the grassroots level there are probably well intentioned, idealistic young people who, like most teachers, want to change the world for the better. They need to be enlightened, however, about the nature and purpose of the organization they work for and warned they should not let their idealism be used for nefarious purposes!

I hope that Jerry is keeping tabs on what just happened in NYC, as reported in the above article, "City Retreats on School Closure Plan." We might need some of their expertise to deal with our situation.

Are you kidding? Why are we giving these guys 1% of our salary. They are not fighting for us. They are fighting for themselves. It may be time for us to opt out of paying the dues, maybe that will wake them up a little.
