"Charter schools now big business nationwide" is a fantastic article. It's a must-read.

Everyone interested in looking at the fiasco unfolding should read this article. The corporate takeover of our schools is marching on, apparently succeeding in its corporate aims if not in educating our children better. Where will it end? One hopeful note in reversing the trend is that the corporate "reformers" will turn on each other. I am no fan of the Gates Foundation types. I cringe as school districts across the nation prostrate themselves before these philanthropists for crumbs as public education funds dry up year after year. Today I was heartened when Melinda Gates stepped down from the Washington Post (60% funded by Kaplan education management)board because her foundation criticized for profit colleges for their poor minority education outcomes. Kaplan is aggressively expanding its for profit college market. I generally believe that the truth will unfold. In the case of education reform, I fear for the democratic practices that are being flagrantly trampled on in the name of "reform". Check this link for the Melinda Gates story. http://www.diversityinc.com/diversity-recruitment/melinda-gates-leaves-p...
