"School Reform Finds a Home" is an insult. We do not need Teach for America (TFA). The School District does not need people who will do a two year stint in this District (at extra cost to the taxpayers).

The link titled "Superintendent Hite and new SRC member Simms walk a scary route" links to an excellent article, "A look at a scary walk by students." Dr. Hite was fortunate to have police protection during his walk. The children who attend the District's schools will not have this same protection. I applaud Ms. Simms for having Dr. Hite take the walk with her. Unlike other SRC members who have no children in the District or whose children attend elite schools (e.g. Wendell Pritchett has daughters attending Masterman), her experience is much more reflective of the general population in this city. I only wish that Dr. Hite would have had the initiative to ask Ms. Simms if they could walk the route instead of the other way around.
