Congratulations on a job well done to DR. PENNY NIXON, Chief Academic Officer of The School District of Philadelphia on the successful defense of her dissertation, entitled "Investing in Urban School Leadership: Creating a Profile of Career Principals to Inform Identification, Recruitment, Retention and Principal Development in the School District of Philadelphia", in partial fulfillment for the requirements of the degree of DOCTOR OF EDUCATION at the University of Pennsylvania! Today, the City of Philadelphia recognizes one of our own who demonstrates the value of a Philadelphia public school education having been educated in our school system and returning to as a successful educator, rising through the ranks in service to children and families. Continue to be a model for the children watching, showing them that they too can make it and turn dreams into reality. We look forward to your return to the District as a valued member of Superintendent Dr. Hite's team.

Congratulations Dr. Penny Nixon!! You go girl. I am so proud of you. You are an exemplary, intelligent leader. Your labor is not in vain. You are one of the SDP own grown. Your degree is from an IVY LEAGUE university. The haters will really hate now. They keep up with you like your "Beyonce". The Bible says he will make your enemies your footstools. The sky is the limit and there is no stopping you now. I look forward to working with you in the future. God is faithful and his promises are true. While some people were spilling their guts and venom about you, you were writing/researching/defending your dissertation. The only thing the haters accomplished is being miserable. You accomplished a DOCTORATE DEGREE!!! There are a lot of people who are happy for you and applaud you and your work you have done for this district!!!!

I love how you haters just hate on her... Funny how (1) you would never have the fortitude to say any of this to her face and (2) none of you folks ever signs your name to these slanderous comments you make. - Francis O'Brien
