Constitution High School

About this school...

Mission Statement:
The school is a unique collaboration among the School District, the National Constitution Center, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. By engaging students with an appreciation for history and an understanding of the democratic principles embodied in the U.S. Constitution, this college preparatory high school will develop the next generation of engaged citizens and civic leaders in government, public policy, and law.

Accreditations/awards:
Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History Flagship School since 2007

Points of pride:
Only social studies-themed high school in Pennsylvania; high college acceptance rate; city, state, and national finalists in National History Day competition; service learning required yearly of all students

AP courses:
Calculus AB, English Literature & Composition, Government & Politics, U.S. History, World History

Other special academic offerings:
Debate; yearbook; film studies; teen court; Constitutional Law; Philadelphia history; Philadelphia Young Playwrights; economics; senior internship; elective courses taught with National Constitution Center; required AP enrollment in junior year; National History Day requirement in 9th and 12th grade; senior project
