You are a senior and you write like that. Good luck in college my friend. Word like "dis" "yuh" and "Gotta" are not going to get you far in life. Use the correct spellings for such words. Thank You.

Your not better than anybody and nobody is perfect !You don't know their story! And if you don't want to send your child there than fine good riddance but we all just want you to know what a great opportunity your missing out on !

Looking for high schools not a kindergarten, I am no impressed. You're in the 12th grade ...supposedly
Submitted by Anonymous on January 17, 2014 9:35 am
No actually I'm not I am a freshman I don't understand why your being disrespectful you are SUPPOSEDLY a parent we'll way to go on teaching your child disrespect I don't know where its going to take your child but I garruntee not very far
Submitted by Anonymous on August 20, 2014 10:50 am

The parent has a valid point. We should be holding ourselves to higher standards. Why would you deliberately make yourself out to be illiterate? Diz, dat, yous, gurruntee... really? This, that, you, GUARANTEE! As a freshman, you have presumably spent 9-10 years being formally educated on how to spell. Use it.

For those looking to enroll in KCAPA, this is my opinion as an alumni (Class of '08).

The school has a promising creative and performing arts curriculum in addition to solid general education curriculum. I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, performed very well on both my SAT and ACT and was offered multiple college scholarships. If you want to learn, you will. The teachers were/are caring and compassionate. If you strive to succeed they will support you to achieve your goals.

I currently hold a degree in linguistics with a focus on Middle Eastern Culture Study and work as a translator; however, I continue to use the performing arts skills I acquired at KCAPA by participating in local theatre productions, local choir and painting.

Please do not allow potty-mouthed children to dissuade you from sending your child here. Research, visit and THEN make your decision. Best of luck to all current and future students!

Thank you so much for that information. As a parent of a student that will be attending there for this 2014 semester it was very helpful and reassured me that we have made a good decision with regard to our choice of this highschool. Thank you for the positive input and feedback!!

KCAPA is a wonderful addition to the area. The theater, music room, art rooms are world-class, and the teachers care about the students. As a neighbor, I am really proud of the community for making this happen.

Submitted by Anonymous on January 12, 2011 6:13 am

is kcapa public school

Submitted by Erika Owens (not verified) on January 12, 2011 10:28 am

Yes, it is a public school. It's a neighborhood high school, which means that if you live in the neighborhood of that school (as defined by these things called "feeder patterns") you are guaranteed admission to that school. If you live outside of the neighborhood, you can apply, but admission is based on available space and a lottery for any available slots.

Submitted by Anonymous on July 19, 2011 2:44 pm

It's good to read so many glowing reports by students on KCAPA. It causes some concern, however, to notice the grammatical, spelling and other basic errors that should have been eradicated by fourth or fifth grade.

Students, not putting you down, but very concerned. Please remember when you're representing a school to show that it has provided you with a sense of belonging (absolutely great), but also a good education.

The school Principal Mrs. Debora Carrera, is the best that Philadelphia has! Go! Principal Carrera!!!!!...oh KCAPA MADE AYP IN 2011......

Submitted by Anonymous on October 25, 2011 8:06 pm

Kcapa might be da worst school that I've ever been. The learning conditions are distracting, everyday is chaotic, students scream and crack up,sing out loud and gossip during the classes, and plenty of teachers abide these chaos instead of calming them down.I'm a new junior this year, and I see it's totally hopeless in this "school".As I know, this year three of my friends had already transfered to other schools, which is really wise.I'm gonna be out of here soon as well.Since you can barely learn anything during your climax of learning in your whole life, switch to somewhere else to save your future! I don't know why on earth that people keep saying how attractive this school is,probably they are actually the staffs of KCAPA? Good luck with people who are in KCAPA or who want to go in!

Submitted by Anonymous on February 26, 2012 6:29 pm

woo i am going to this school next year i am hoping it will be a good school year for the first time.People in my school are saying to not go their. I am going to that school for 9th grade and the rest of the 4 years of it. I really hope it going to turn out okay....

Submitted by Anonymous on December 16, 2013 9:19 am
That's blue everyone is confusing this capa with the higher leveled capa which is located in downtown Philadelphia ..... Do your research
Submitted by Anonymous on October 27, 2011 12:20 pm

by the way in in 6th grade

Submitted by Anonymous on July 17, 2012 6:37 pm

I moved my sons out of this place earlier in the year and I don't regret it. They said most of the class period was spent trying to get the other students in their seats/stop talking. Whenever I was on the school campus, I got the sense that it was a consequence free environment... kids walking the hall, offensive language, disrespectful attitude. Shame... it's a really beautiful building with alot of resouces that are going to waste. I will say the teachers are good... very involved with individual achievement and willing to work with parents (especially with single working parents like myself)... but then the principal went and laid off half the staff from what I heard. Just another example of Philadelphia's costly failures.
