Parkway Northwest High School
As a community service project on Martin Luther King Day, students at Parkway Northwest High School for Peace and Social Justice organized 12 workshops fostering cultural awareness for an audience of 150 students and 80 guests from the community. The students are part of Parkway’s S.H.A.R.E. program – which stands for Spanish, History, Art, Research, English – a cross-curricular project focused on the question: What happens when we are aware of other cultures? Students engaged in research, writing, and art-making and conducted teach-ins addressing peace, change, and social justice awareness. Workshop topics ranged from the legacy of colonialism in the Congo to Hindu art.
