Imagine 2014 at the SRC coverage roundup

On Tuesday Dale Mezzacappa posted a link to the Imagine 2014 document on the District site, and gave her first impressions of the 64-page plan.

At the SRC meeting on Wednesday activist groups called for more time to review the just-released updated plan. The Inquirer outlined some key points of the updated plan, and noted the uncertainty about the plan’s cost. Metro highlighted a parent’s perspective of the plan. KYW had a brief note about the suggestion of delaying the vote on the plan, which is currently scheduled for next week even though the plan still lacks a budget. But Ackerman was insistent: "Have we not delayed and deferred our children’s dreams long enough?  I believe it’s time for us to move on."

A public meeting was held after the SRC meeting on Wednesday, but only three people attended the poorly publicized meeting. Two more meetings for public comment are coming up, but they are not yet noted on the District Web site.

The meetings are:

  • April 20 at 2pm at Triumph Baptist Church, Germantown Avenue and Hunting Park
  • April 20 at 6pm at South Philadelphia High School, Broad Street and Synder Avenue

RSVP to reserve your seat. Call Denisa Hurst at 215-400-5837 or reply to dhurst@philasd.org.

The Imagine 2014 plan is still scheduled for a vote on April 22.
