School Reform Commissioner Wendell Pritchett wants to hear from you.

Philadelphia’s hunt for a new superintendent begins in earnest this week, and Pritchett, who is chairing the search committee, wants recommendations.

“I’m begging,” he said during an extensive interview last week. “We need to cast a wide net and get a diverse pool so that we can find the best person.”

Pritchett said he specifically hopes to hear from students, parents, and teachers – in other words, Notebook readers.

Do you want to throw your name in the ring?

Or pass along the name of someone you think would make a good superintendent?

What type of background and experience do you think a good candidate should have?

Are there particular qualities that you think the search committee should focus on?

What cities, organizations, and industries might the search committee look to for candidates?

If you can’t make it to one of the ten public forums being held this month, you can weigh in on the search by commenting on this story. We’ll collect our readers’ responses and make sure they get to the search committee.

Go ahead, share your suggestions and feedback!
