More full-service kitchens open The School District reports that it now operates full-service kitchens providing lunch at 107 schools, up from 67 four years ago. Twelve full-service kitchens started up at schools this year, with plans to convert about a dozen more over the summer.

The majority of schools served by the Division of Food Services – 131 locations – still have pre-plated meals and lack the capacity to prepare food from scratch. Those kitchens do keep food cooled or frozen and heat items as required.

All the city’s District-run high schools, with the exception of Constitution High (located in a leased facility), offer full-service kitchens. The 56 other schools with full-service kitchens are listed here. The list includes elementary, middle, and alternative schools. Schools with asterisks are new to the list this year.
