Two performances of Symphony for a Broken Orchestra will take place Sunday to raise money for repairing instruments for Philadelphia public school students.
Nearly 400 musicians will play damaged instruments in a piece written for the occasion by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang.
The event is an initiative of Temple University and Found Sound Nation, a nonprofit that works to bring music to urban schools.
Members of the public can donate by adopting an instrument and by attending the concert, which has performances on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the 23rd Street Armory, 22 S. 23rd St.
The goal is to repair 1,000 instruments for use by students in District schools.

More information on how to adopt an instrument or buy tickets can be found here.
