NewsMatch fundraising campaign launches today
NewsMatch, the largest grassroots fundraising campaign to support nonprofit news organizations, launches today at the Notebook and in newsrooms across the country and online. The campaign doubles donations to 155 nonprofit newsrooms in nearly every state across the country, starting today and running through Dec. 31.
Notebook readers can make a one-time donation or start a new monthly gift online at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/Yearendcampaign. Monthly gifts will be matched 12 times, and one-time donations will be doubled (up to $1,000 each) by the NewsMatch campaign and Wyncote Foundation.
This is the third year of NewsMatch, and the number of nonprofit news organizations participating in the campaign jumped by more than 40 percent since last year. NewsMatch is designed to help fuel a surge in giving to local and investigative reporting and strengthen nonprofit newsrooms through training and shared resources.
NewsMatch is led by the Institute for Nonprofit News and the News Revenue Hub, two organizations helping build more sustainable models for journalism in America. It raised $4.8 million for nonprofit news organizations last year, including $75,000 for the Notebook.
