What is your talent????
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 04/29/2010 - 23:34.
Well it is very hard to get pass your auditions for Instrumental Music. The teachers for Instrumental Music, are known all around the world! I passed my music audition on Saxophone and Violin. You have to call the school the day after MLK Jr. day to find out if you got into CAPA or not. Thats how you find out if you got in or not. If I were you, I would 110% pick CAPA to go to for high school if you are really into the Arts! If you are not into the Arts, dont even think about CAPA then.
Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 05/10/2011 - 15:22.
I am a Capa Alumini c/o 1998. I was an instrumental Major. The audition for me was very easy but that was back in 1993/1994 when i actually auditioned. It may be harder now. Good luck!

What are the auditions like, if your there for creative writing?
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 01/05/2013 - 01:09.
Well, while applying to CAPA you must have a portfolio with 3 non-fiction writing pieces, 3 fiction writing piece, 3 poetry writing pieces and 3 journalistic writing pieces written by yourself and the auditions usually start in December. At the audition you will be told to write a non-fiction piece and will have about an hour for that and then write a fiction piece and will have about an hour for that also. After writing those two pieces you will have about a 5 minute interview. Don't wait until last minute to do your portfolio! Good luck! :)

Capa asked me to audition for creative writing...I AM NERVOUS! Lol But my family tells me I am excellent at it....so idk....Help?
Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 15:22.
Dont think about how hard it is. go to a happy place and just let you imagination fly! :)
Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 09/23/2012 - 17:37.
you seriously should do that. my teacher suggested i'd do crative writing as well. i felt the same way. but my sis went there for creative writing also, she passed with a breeze. she told me that you have to write something that will inspire them, something like a short poem. it won't take you hours to prepare and that's exactly what i used to get in. THEY ACCEPTED ME SO I KNO THEY'LL ACCEPT YOU!!! :]]

You apply in 8th grade and then CAPA gives you an audition time. Keep your grades up and your attendance perfect, and do as well as you possibly can on the PSSAs in March! Work on your vocals and keep working on your creative writing portfolio.

i'm in seventh grade currently, and it's really quite possible that i'll try out next year.
i live fairly far away, about fifty minutes, but taking a few buses is no bid deal. i'm either going to creative writing or visual arts - you see, i'm told to be somewhat good in both areas, and i truly love them. but you can only pick one, which is so difficult! i do have some time, though.
now, here's my dilemma - i have really bad stomach issues, ulcers and such, so i've spent about twelve days out. but i have an A average with the occasional B; so great grades, terrible attendance. does anyone know how much this would hurt my chances? you see, this is my dream school pretty much, i'm impossibly excited! yet i worry that it'll be hard for them to look past my gag-worthy attendance record.
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 23:31.
I would have the counselor send attendance notes and medical documentation with the application--I do not know how much that will help, but it might. You live pretty far away--do you live in the city? You must live in the city to attend CAPA or any other Philadelphia School District School.
